The point of multiple saves is to have a save frozen from a point you want to start at (could be past the tutorial, could be past the 2nd dungeon etc.), leaving that save untouched while playing from a second save from that one. Even with a separate account starting that save and saving over it defeats the point.

I am not too familiar with zelda, but if the game says it "overwrites" or "deletes" the save files, then your previous saves do not exist, since the game deletes your old saves and replaces them with the new data.
