If you get 4 years out of that one, you may never have to buy a replacement. Also, as you stated, the original one you used still works, just not 100 %. If you can, try to lock the doors with the key and then wait for the alarm to set. Then unlock the drivers door with the key. This should disable the alarm. If it does not, then try doing the same but using the passenger door.
