My Security 9 has had four FTEs across approximately 310 rounds since new. The first two were classic stovepipes and easily cleared. Jul 15, 2023 · My newly purchased Ruger Security 9 has a problem ejecting the spent casing. It doesn't always grab the casing to eject and causes a jam. I'm coming close to having put 1,000 rounds through the gun and here is the problem: It ONLY likes Federal ammo! Federal ammo has had zero jams and zero of these ejection problems!

Took it out yesterday and after 2 mags I starting having problems! 1. Last round hold back would not work on 1 of the mags, not that big of a deal. 2. When slide is locked to the back and I insert a full mag the slide lock will not disengage when pulling back on slide and releasing.

Took it home, disassembled, cleaned, and lubed it. Took it to my range and put 36 rounds of FMJ through the two mags that came with it. Get some sand paper and sand it to like 2000 grit glass smooth. After that run the thing sopping wet with lube for the first 500 to 1000 rounds, it’ll break in and run fine after that.
