It was a little cheaper than other powders at one time, probably not now even if you could find it. It meters very well and gets the job done at low charge weights. It will also allow you to load 7/8 and especially 3/4 oz loads to some very high velocities if you want. Simplify reloading 12 ga. with Clays powder. Being just a clay target shooter I am going to load everything with Clays powder. There are nearly 300 different loads published on the Hodgdon site. For 1-1/8 ounce loads the pressures get a little high, but it still works well for 1145 fps loads. It is a VERY fine grained powder and it will find any leakage path in your reloader, so be aware.
