Mine says No. 064xx on the top tang. With the large number made they were in the catalog for several years.The model 39 (Not 39A/39M) was made from 1922-1938. Since you rifle does not have the HS prefix on the serial number it means it will not take the high speed .22 long rifle cartridges. Marlin Model 39 .22 S,L,LR caliber rifle. I don't see it on your list but did find it over at the Marlin Firearms Collector Association site. On their list compared to yours between 1957 and 1964 there are several lettered differences as noted. In 1922 it was again renamed to the model 39 then finally the last change in 1939 to the model 39A, which finally stuck to this day. When first made it had a straight stock in American Walnut. Of course this rifle and all Marlin lever rifles had the highest quality American Walnut stocks. In 1946 the 39A offered a fluted comb rear stock.
