The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space museum has been on my to-do list for years, but it is a little out of the way from where we usually visit in NYC. This trip I was making sure to head over because I couldn’t wait to step aboard an actual Aircraft Carrier. The museum was originally founded in 1982, but was closed in 2006 for a two-year renovation.Decommissioned in 1974, the Intrepid was saved from the scrapyard and converted into a museum in the early 80s. It was remodeled between 2006-08 and returned to Pier 86 as the museum we know today.
